The following incident occurred on Tuesday, June 23, 2020:
At approximately 2:31 p.m., Deputies responded to the W8400 block of STH 81 in the Town of Jordan for a report of an abandoned motorcycle that was located in the area. It was discovered that the motorcycle had been involved in a crash. Deputies conducted an investigation and discovered that on Monday, June 22, in the early morning hours, Joel K. Elmer, 40, Browntown, WI, was operating the motorcycle and traveling eastbound. Elmer failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway and the motorcycle entered the ditch. The motorcycle then collided with a traffic sign and a culvert. Elmer then placed the motorcycle into a wooded area to conceal it and left the area on foot.
The motorcycle sustained severe damage and was later towed from the scene. Elmer reported that he was not wearing a helmet, but was wearing eye protection. Elmer reported that he sought medical treatment for non-life injuries sustained in the crash.
Citations for Elmer are pending.
