On May 26, 2020, at 5:33 PM, officers were called to a two-vehicle accident with reported minor injuries at 10th Street and 22nd Avenue.
Investigation indicated that an eastbound vehicle on 10th Street, operated by Carla A. Hartwig (82), Monroe, left the stop sign at 22nd Avenue and collided with a vehicle which was northbound on 22nd Avenue, operated by Andrea M. Fernandes (32), Brodhead. Fernandes and a passenger in Fernandes’s vehicle, Owen A. Fernandes (6), reported minor injuries and declined immediate medical attention. Both vehicles sustained moderate to severe damages, and the Fernandes vehicle was towed.
Hartwig was cited for failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign and was released pending a court appearance. Fernandes was cited for operating with a suspended driver’s license, and was also released pending a court appearance.
