Gordon LeRoy Wahler Obituary Photo

Gordon “Gordie” LeRoy Wahler, age 82, of Monroe passed away on Sunday, March 22, 2020 at Monroe Clinic Hospice. He was born the son of Lewie and Velma (Prine) Wahler on November 26, 1937 in Gratiot. He was a graduate of Gratiot High School. Gordie was united in marriage to Rose Wenger on May 19, 1957 at the West Wiota Church.

Gordie lived in Monroe most of his life. He worked for Montgomery Ward, Marty Ripp Chevrolet, Alphorn Ford, and after his retirement he continued to work in the shipping department at Swiss Colony. He was a longtime member of Grace Lutheran Church and Monroe Moose Lodge for over 50 years.

Gordie enjoyed camping, bowling, slow pitch, taking care of his lawn, the Green Bay Packers, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family.

Gordie is survived by his wife of nearly 63 years, Rose; children, Robert (Tina) Wahler and Lori (Dennis) Timm; grandchildren, Justin, Ryan, Derek, and Dylan; and great-grandchildren, Korbin, Weston, JJ, Rowan, and Cole.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Gerald (Bev) Wahler.

The family is having a Private Service on March 26, 2020 at Grace Lutheran Church with Rev. John Tabaka officiating. We are deeply saddened that we’re unable to hold a public service for Gordie at this time due to the recent health concerns. We will be holding a Celebration of Gordie’s Life at a later date, and we hope all of Gordie’s friends and family can join us at that time.
