All persons arrested or cited are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

The following incidents occurred on Friday, January 17, 2020:

Probation and Parole Arrest:

At approximately 8:20 a.m., Deputies responded to the Green County Probation and Parole Office in the City of Monroe and arrested Derek E. Gobeli, 33, Monroe, WI, who had a Probation Hold placed on him by the Wisconsin Department of Corrections.  Gobeli was incarcerated in the Green County Jail.

Motor Vehicle Crash:

At approximately 9:26 a.m., Deputies responded to the N7800 block of STH 69 in the Town of New Glarus for a report of a semi unit crash.  Investigation revealed that Sheldon D. Johnson, 61, Argyle, WI, was operating a semi unit consisting of a tractor and a trailer.  Johnson attempted to make a right turn onto STH 69 from a driveway.  During the turning maneuver, the trailer became unhitched from the tractor.  The unit then became jackknifed and came to a rest in the roadway.  Johnson reported that he was not injured and that he was wearing his seatbelt.  Both the tractor and the trailer sustained damage.  Both units were towed from the scene.

The Green County Highway Department assisted at the scene with traffic control.  Traffic in the area was partially closed for approximately two hours.

Motor Vehicle Crash:

At approximately 3:05 p.m., Deputies responded to the intersection of STH 11 and Balls Mill Rd in the Town of Sylvester for a report of a two vehicle crash.  Investigation revealed that Brett A. McNamer, 43, Switzer, WI, was traveling southbound on Balls Mill Rd approaching the intersection with STH 11.  McNamer’s failed to stop at the Stop Sign and his vehicle slid through the intersection due to the snow covered road surface.  Upon entering the intersection, McNamer’s vehicle struck a vehicle traveling westbound on STH 11 that was being driven by Kyle L. Papendorf, 36, Monroe, WI.

Papendorf’s vehicle came to a rest on the south shoulder of STH 11.  The vehicle sustained disabling damage and the airbags deployed.  Papendorf reported that he was not injured and that he was wearing his seatbelt.  The vehicle was towed from the scene.

McNamer’s vehicle sustained damage and the airbags did not deploy.  McNamer and his passengers reported no injuries and that they were all wearing their seatbelts.  The vehicle was driven from the scene.
